The majority of the youth served by juvenile justice, child welfare systems, or both, bear a reality that has exposed them to disappointments, instability in home and family life, direct or indirect trauma, violence, drug abuse, and a variety of other factors that have contributed to their destructive, unhealthy and delinquent behaviors.  Our model is not simply to house or detain youth who are referred to commitment, but rather, we focus on the root cause of their behaviors and choices, and develop individualized treatment plans that address the specific needs of each youth in our care.  By using research and evidence based practices shown to be effective, we work to address those root causes and build a positive foundation for each youth.

Our programming is designed specifically for youth and in response to characteristics of the way they develop intellectually, emotionally, and physically.  Every youth in our care is different and comes to us with their own unique histories and resulting risk factors, so treatment begins with thorough clinical assessment to determine the best modalities, intensity, and frequency of treatment relative to their level of need. Treatment needs for the youth in our care are typically related to:

Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare system reforms and improvements has been a growing and pervasive focus of authorized agencies and legislative bodies for many years now.  How we respond to the needs of at-risk youth in this country has been and will continue to be a frequently debated topic of discussion, and it should be. Regardless of where the paradigm shift has swung at any given time when it comes to what a "common sense" approach may be, or the tough on crime versus rehabilitation debate, YOI believes most of us can agree on at least this: when it comes to kids, we always have a duty and obligation to do better.

Our team of industry experts have decades of experience with both the juvenile justice and child welfare systems, and have experienced first-hand the implementation of both minor and sweeping changes intended to improve our response to youth and families in crisis, leverage research and data to inform our decisions, and build cultures of excellence that are focused on long term individual, facility, and organizational positive outcomes.

Our deeply experienced team supports initiatives across key areas of operational improvement in residential treatment, detention, and correctional facilities responsible for the care and custody of youth:

Youth facilities of all classifications are complex environments that require all facets of daily life be addressed.  Each their own ecosystem, every facility must comprehensively address the needs of youth 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and maintain the appropriate level of security based on risk levels of the youth committed there. From every perspective - personnel, leadership, safety, education, nutrition, medical care, therapeutic services, transportation, and so on, effective facility management goes beyond nuts and bolts.  More than ever, we aim to create environments in which youth and staff alike have an experience and sense of shared community and belonging.  Effective facility management touches on the entire culture, mission, and outcomes of a facility or treatment center.  The operational services we provide represent a holistic approach to management that maximizes operations and programs toward achieving the best outcomes possible.
